More tips on swimming: Breathing for freestyle
Today I made some further improvements in my swim routine:
* Keep the crown of my head in line with my spine.
* For breathing, tilt the body sidewards, rotating it on its central axis until the mouth is exposed. No need to turn the neck
* One thing that helped increase my endurance today was breathing out using the nose instead of mouth. There is conflicting opinion on this. Ony of my swim trainer said the mouth, the other uses the noses. PersonallyI feel much more relaxed and can use the same breath for a longer period of time if I use my nose, not my mouth. It’s almost like doing the Yogic Pranayama posture for breathing. I breath out slowly in the water and then inhale in a quick gulp using my mouth when turning my body
* I am not focusing at all on my speed, I am just trying to increase the duration I can swim in the water using breathing, regardless of the speed I am travelling at.
