The death of intellectual curiosity with age ?

As I observe people around me, I observe how non-curious about life generally many seem to become with age.

As a child most are excited about discovering new stuff, trying new things, learning about stuff. But as one becomes more ‘mature’ this intellectual curiosity seems to get replaced by sense curiosity where the focus is on discovering new ways to have fun, or to satisfy the senses, maybe at the cost of depraving the intellect.

One tries to maximize the fun, chill out, hang out, whatever. And somehow I feel many of my friends have lost that genuine intellectual curiosity which I think was there at a much younger age. I don’t know the reason for this…probably this is just the effect of association with other similar minds and like an epidemic it just keeps on going on and on.

Not that its really bad or something…just that I feel intellectual curiosity does add more depth to life. And it can get you in good places metaphorically speaking. Especially for those who are open to possibilities…not just to do their work to get their wage.

But curiosity is a prerequisite for new possibilities and opportunities.
