Today’s swimming class: treading, freestyle

Had my 4th swimming session today…and it was great fun. Only 3 people showed up, rest dropping out like melting snow from the roof. Today I went in the deep for the first time : gave me great confidence.

We learnt:

1. Breast stroke kicking : I still suck at this , the frog kick thing, but apparently its pretty important for treading water. So we practiced that a bit. Somehow I stay in the same plac. I just gotta practice more.

2. Kicking : My kicking has become way stronger than before. More stamina and strength. My working out with weights is obviously helping here. My legs have become twice as strong in last 2 months.

3. In the last part we went to the deep end and did treading there. I was nervous at first and then I was surprised how easy it really actually is. I still have trouble stayin vertical…but it was pretty effortless for me for some reason. Good job!

After the instructor left I did some freestyle in the deep and was able to swim from one end to other. And then I mainly focused on the hip rotation part today, as seen in the videos in my previous post. I am just trying to rotate my body well, along my spinal axis and not bend my neck for breathing. I have improved in that since last time, just gotta practice more and more to get it right.

Three aspects for me work on: 1. Kicking 2. Hip rotation and body rotation 3. Breathing without rotating neck.
